Heesterically dead

Nazi singer Johannes Heesters made a name for himself by spending the rest of his life denying that he sang for the Nazis. He died on Christmas Eve at 108. Grady Harmon picks up his third hit and second solo of the year, bringing him from 36th to 22nd place

Congrats, Grady!
My apologies for not updating this more promptly - I was distracted by the holiday and then forgot that I hadn't actually done it yet.

Kim Jong-Dead

Quite a day for world leaders, as Vaclev Havel and Kim Jong-Il both died today. However, while Havel hadn't been picked since 2003, North Korea's dictator Jong-Il was picked 12 times in this game.

Bob Razem's List 3 picks up a second hit this weekend alone, becoming only the second player this year to get 5 hits, and moves into second place.

Brooke Newsguy, Candy York and Doug Sing all pick up a fourth hit, bringing to 9 the number of players with that amount.

Cathryn Innacola's List 1, Kelly Keegan's One for the big toe List and Bob Razem's List 4 each ring up hit #3.

Michelle Stoken's Dead Men Walkin List, Natalie Tyler's Politics Can Be Deadly! List and Terry Csipkes's Nine Dead Men and Betty Ford List each grab their second.

Finally, Andrew Gonzalez and Jimmy Casino make the board for the first time in this game.

Congratulations to all!

Unhitched

Writer Christopher Hitchens is dead at 62, and he was picked 13 times: Joe Biasi, Kelly Keegan's Kelly and Craig return to the top List, Brad Hope and Bob Razem's List 3 and List 2 all picked up a fourth hit, moving into 3rd - 7th place.

Kelly Keegan's A tisket a tasket let`s fill another casket List, Bob Razem's List 1, Toe Tag and Brave Sir Robin each see a third.

Cathryn Innacola's List 1, Bill Hillegas's List 2 and Me! all get our second.

Finally, News Guy Craig's List 1 makes the board for the first time this year.

Congrats, all!

I hope everybody's getting ready for 2012 KDP! Official Invitation went out earlier this week - be sure to let me know if you didn't get it.

Horse feathers and bull-puckey!

Bringing us some late game action, Harry Morgan has died at 96, giving us our biggest hit of the year - 15 players picked Col. Potter. He was our 7th-most picked this year, and was our 9th-most picked of all time (amongst those still living, of course).

Clint Place's 90-Plus List sees his 4th hit, sliding him into 3rd place.

Candy York, Doug Sing and Brad Hope all get their third hit.

Kelly Keegan's A tisket a tasket let`s fill another casket List, Mike Roche's Sports Guys List (REALLY???), Carol Ann Roke, Judith Place, Marge Sing and Grady Harmon pick up the deuce.

Finally, Sarah Jane Wallace, Sheila Place, Natalie Tyler's M is the Deadliest Letter List, Chuck Daley and myself get our first hit of the game.

Congrats, all!

And for those who were wondering - yes, of course, there will be a 2012 KDP. I've just been too extraordinarily busy & distracted to get the invitation out, but I hope that's not stopping anybody from recruiting and getting their lists prepared. Look for the invite by the weekend.
Also - I've been a bit negligent in rattling cages about collecting 2011 entry fees - please send them in if you haven't already done so.

And now - ETERNITY with Andy Rooney:

Dontcha hate it when Andy Rooney dies at 92 and you didn't pick him this year? Well you would if you were anybody other than 2 people in this year's game. Let's hear it for Clint Champion and Natalie Tyler's Writing Oneself to Death List as they were the only ones with enough sense to do what seems so obvious in hindsight to the rest of us.

Granted, this is only Clint's second hit of the year, and Natalie is only getting her first on this list, and SURE - the standings are not shaken up too terribly. But the important thing that we must remember is that Clint and Natalie got a hit. And you did not.

There's something terribly sad about that.

Raided

Legendary Raiders Al Davis is dead at 82, and Mike Roche's Sports Guys List's 3-year/5-list vigil has come to an end. Mike's solo is this list's first hit and moves him from 54th place to 38th place.

Congrats, Mike!

Amy Winehouse has lost her battle with addiction at age 27. 4 players had her: Mike Roche's Fliers List, Rich Holland's Legion of Doom List, Cyn Hechinger and Clint Champion all get their first hit of the game, and line up in the Standings starting at 21st place.

Congrats, all!

The Schwartz is no longer with us

Gilligan`s Island creator Sherwood Schwartz is dead at 94, and three of us had him: John Downey and Clint Place`s 90-Plus List each see their third hit of the game, and move up to 7th and 8th place, while Toe Tag gets his second hit.

Also - don`t forget that I prophesied a hit for this week while I`m in Germany. That`s right - I`m sitting on the patio of the Landhaus Schieder soaking up free wi-fi and drinking a Detmolder Pilsener which I`m sure Herr Place will say est KRAP, but I`m enjoying it nonetheless. (This all has nothing to do with Schwartz - I just wanted to brag)

Congrats, all!

Oh oh, Dead Betty, ramalam

Betty Ford has died at the age of 93 (interestingly, her husband died at 93 as well). Nine players picked her:

Bob Broadhurst, Natalie Tyler's The C Files List, Candy York and Michelle Stoken's Good Ole Broads List all get their second hit.

Rich Place, Toe Tag, Terry Csipkes's Nine Dead Men and Betty Ford List (How's THAT for an appropriate list name?), Marge Sing and Jeremy Valentine see their first hit of the game.

Congrats, all!

Fame level: less than Falk, more than Beaton (I hope!)

Our third hit in three days, and it's another quasi-famous sports journalist: CNN's Nick Charles, at the age of 64, and 3 people had him on 5 lists. In a near-repeat of 2 days ago: Kevin Byrnes is now the first player this year to get a fourth hit and solidifies his lead, while Joe Biasi (of course) and 2 of Bob Razem's Lists ( List 2 and List 3) get a third hit. Finally, Bob Razem's List 1 sees a second hit.

Congrats, all!

06/24/2011

One FINAL thing...

Peter Falk, a real bona-fide celebrity, has died at 83, and 4 players were on the case: Brooke Newsguy and Kelly Keegan's Kelly and Craig return to the top List each see their third hit of the game, and move into 2nd and 3rd place.

Natalie Tyler's Old Friends List got it's second hit, while her Most Likely to Succeed: Class of 2011 List got it's first. (hmmm... I guess that's really just 3 players...)

Congrats, Brooke, Kelly & Natalie!

06/23/2011

His heart stopped Beaton

USAToday Sportswriter Rod Beaton is dead at 58. Two players picked him: Kevin Byrnes becomes the first player this year to get a third hit and therefore takes the lead. Joe Biasi picks up his second and moves into 5th place.

Congrats, Kevin & Joe!

Dr Death goes....but not by his own hand

Jack Kevorkian has died at 83, and only 2 people helped him out. Mike Roche's Politics and Entertainment List sees his second hit of the year, and moves up to 5th place, while Carol Ann Roke makes the board for the first time this year and settles in at 26th.

Congratulations, Mike and Carol Ann!

ABOUT F*CKING TIME!

Osama Bin-Laden is finally dead. Sadly, the KDP is as guilty as the rest of the country in just giving up on ever seeing this scumbag DEAD, as nobody picked him this year.

CONGRATULATIONS TO US ALL!!!!!!

First female VP candidate has died

Former VP candidate Geraldine Ferraro has died at 75, and only one person cast a vote for her: Laura Welliver's Jerry Jerry Jerry List gets her first hit of the year, and slides into 10th place.

Congratulations, Laura!

03/23/2011

Perennial drain circler finally falls in

Got a big one here - Elizabeth Taylor has died at 79. She was #8 on the list of Most-Picked Celebs. Eight players picked her this year - our biggest hit of the current game, and our biggest hit since our last Elizabethean, Elizabeth Edwards, this past December.

John Downey and Cathryn Innacola's List 2 each pick up their second hit of the game, moving up to first and third place.

Getting a first hit of the year: Mike Roche's Politics and Entertainment List, Val Voyts, Natalie Tyler's Let's Hear It For the Girls List, Doug Sing, my own Lil' KDPer Madison Kaufman and Michelle Stoken's Good Ole Broads List.

Hugh Martin writes up a solo for Grady

Composer Hugh Martin died on Friday at the age of 96. (I got distracted from making a timely update and forgot about it until just now). One person had him - Grady Harmon picks up the solo on his first hit of the game. He moves from 32nd to 12th place.

Congrats, Grady!

03/05/2011

Ruby DeadDay

The Mother of all Islam, Ruby Muhammad is dead at approximately 103. Some reports put her at 97, but the general consensus is that she was definitely 100+, so I'll put her like that for now. Anyway, Brave Sir Robin picked up his second hit, moving into Second place, while Bob Lyhus grabs his first hit of the game, and slides into 15th.

Congrats, all!

02/14/2011

Shearing plays his final solo to a doll

Jazz band leader George Shearing is dead at 91, and Judith Place picks up a solo on her first hit of the year, moving from 30th up to 7th place. Also: she's a Cabbage Patch Doll. Ok.

Ok.

Congrats, Cabbage Head! You're doing better than me!

01/26/2011

He's lost that Louvin feeling

Country singer Charlie Louvin has died at the age of 83, and Bob Razem had him on 3 out of 4 lists: List 1, List 2 and List 3. John Park achieved better hit coverage, as he included Louvin on 100% of his lists. (He only has one list. Statistics are FUN!). Bob and John take up spots 3 - 5, including a tiebreaker at #5 between Bob and himself. (I'm rooting for Bob.)

This is our fourth hit of the game - possibly the busiest January we've ever had, but I don't know for sure. Looks like I need another page of stats. (Sorry for the drooling...)

Congratulations, Bob (x3) and John!

Bodybag by Jack

Jack LaLanne is dead at 96, and his last act was to kick sand in the face of all human KDPer's as this game has now officially gone to the dogs.

Clint Place's 90-Plus List becomes the first player of the year to get a second hit, and so moves into First place. We've got no rookies this year that need this explained to them, but for those who've forgotten - Clint is Rich Place's greyhound. He might have failed as a race dog, but he's obviously found his second calling. (And for those calling FOUL, let me assure you - I know Rich. Let's just say he could stand to pick up a few pointers from his dog.)

But alas, Clint doesn't get the Solo Point, as 4 others picked Jack as well: Brave Sir Robin, Natalie Tyler's Old Friends List, Brad Hope and Cathryn Innacola's List 2 all get their first hit of the game.

Congrats, all!

Good doggie, Clint!

01/18/2011

No Time For Sargent

Sargent Shriver is dead at 95, and 4 players picked him: John Downey, Natalie Tyler's Politics Can Be Deadly! List, Clint Place's 90-Plus List , Bill Hillegas's List 2 . They stack up in spots 2-5.

Congrats, all!

Well, that didn't take long!

1950s beauty Anne Francis died yesterday at the age of 80, giving us our 2nd-earliest hit ever. KDP2010 3rd place finisher Kevin Byrnes picks up the solo and takes the lead.

Congrats, Kevin!

2010 KDP over, bring on 2011!

The 2010 edition of Kaufman's Deadpool is over, and a big congratulations go out to Bob Razem, who wins the top seat for the second time, and breaks Kelly Keegan's 4-year winning streak. Bob takes home 75% of the $710 pot, or $532.50

Showing up in the #2 money spot is Brave Sir Robin, who gets 15%, or $106.50.

Rounding out the top is Kevin Byrnes, who wins the remaining 10% ($71).

Congratulations, everyone! Good luck to all in 2011!

In the meantime, I'm asking everybody to check their lists and let me know ASAP if there are any errors.

(yes, I know that the 2010 standings are currently messed up - I'll address that tomorrow)
